4 Year Old Mouth Guard
Finding a mouth guard that will fit small mouths can be challenging, much less one for a 4 year old. Dentists have been adapting the Denta-Gard® Kids Comfort Pro Sports Mouthguards to small mouths for many years. We will show you below how to modify our mouthguard to fit small mouths.
Remember, not all mouthguards are created equal, and for young athletes, comfort plays a crucial role in ensuring consistent use. Mouthguards can be distracting, and uncomfortable, and even make it harder to breathe or speak when they don't fit properly. We designed Kids Comfort Pro Mouth Guards to provide maximum comfort and protection so young athletes won’t mind wearing them.
Investing in a quality sports mouthguard for a 4 year old is just as important as wearing a helmet, shin guards, or other protective gear when it comes to safeguarding young athletes. Unfortunately, many sports come with the risk of impact to the face and mouth. High-quality mouthguards can significantly reduce the chances of serious dental injuries such as chipped, broken, or knocked-out teeth, as well as soft tissue damage to cheeks, and gums.
Beyond just preventing painful injuries, a quality youth mouth guard can also save parents from expensive dental procedures. Young athletes can focus on the game when wearing a mouthguard that offers both comfort and superior protection.
Why Do Kids Need Mouthguards?
Children are more vulnerable to dental injuries due to their active lifestyles and developing teeth. A sudden impact can lead to broken teeth, jaw fractures, and soft tissue damage. The American Dental Association (ADA) strongly recommends that children wear mouthguards while playing contact and non-contact sports alike.
A good youth mouth guard should:
✔ Absorb and distribute impact force
✔ Protect both top and bottom teeth, gums, and soft tissue
✔ Be comfortable enough for long wear
✔ Allow easy breathing and speaking
Introducing Denta-Gard® Kids Comfort Pro™ Youth Mouth Guards
Providing superior comfort and protection qualities, Kids Comfort Pro Sports Mouthguards are the preferred mouthguards by dentists and coaches. They were designed by a dentist to ensure optimal comfort and protection without affecting teeth positioning. Due to its soft-flex technology, protection is even provided for athletes with braces. For years, the Denta-Gard® Kid's Comfort Pro™ mouthguard was only available through dentists. Now, you can conveniently purchase it directly from the manufacturer's website while still having the option to buy it through your dentist.
Features of Kids Comfort Pro Mouthguards
✅ No Boiling: Unlike traditional mouthguards, the innovative soft-flex materials enable Kid's Comfort Pro to sef-adjust to each wearer's mouth.

✅ Breathability & Speech Clarity: Kids can talk and breathe easily while wearing them, making it easier to stay focused on the game.
✅ BPA-Free & Safe Materials: You will have peace of mind knowing our youth mouth guards are made from non-toxic FDA-Approved materials.
✅ Suitable for Braces: Orthodontists value its superior protection and its ability to avoid disrupting teeth alignment during treatment.
How to adapt Kids Comfort Pro mouthguards to fit small mouths:
Young children grow at their own pace, and some may have small mouths. If your child finds the mouthguard uncomfortable, you may need to trim the flange. Using a pair of scissors, carefully trim a small portion from both the top and bottom flanges. Have your child try the mouthguard again to check if it still touches the soft tissue. If discomfort persists, repeat the trimming process as needed. Keep in mind, you may just need to trim one side or just the top or bottom portion.
The Denta-Gard® Kid's Comfort PRO™ does NOT fall into the standard three sports mouthguard categories
Stock mouth guards: Inexpensive and usually purchased at most sporting goods stores. In most cases, you can not wear this sports mouthguard with braces. They only cover the upper teeth and are usually bulky and make breathing difficult. They provide very little to no protection. Therefore, dentists typically do not recommend their use.
Boil and bite mouthguard: Inexpensively available at most sporting goods stores. Made of a thermoplastic material that you place in boiling water, then shape around teeth with your fingers. In most cases can not be worn with braces. Covers the upper teeth only and is usually bulky and uncomfortable. Kids tend to chew the ends down which eliminates any cushioning benefit.
Custom mouthguard: Custom sports mouthguards are usually purchased from your Dentist, they are expensive and typically cost $300.00 and up. Consequently, to protect both upper and lower teeth, you will need to purchase two custom-fit mouthguards.
